Hyderabad, Telangana Anti-Narcotics Bureau on Monday said a disc jockey (DJ) was detained for allegedly consuming drugs - cocaine and cannabis.
According to the Telangana Anti-Narcotics Bureau (TGANB), the DJ who came under their investigation, was found frequenting pubs in Madhapur and Gachibowli areas after consuming drugs.
"Based on intelligence inputs, 16 people involved in drugs and visiting pubs were called in Madhapur and Gachibowli areas. They were tested for drug consumption and two, including a DJ, were arrested," a TGANB release said. "People tested positive for cocaine and cannabis." ,
He was taken into custody and a case was registered against him under relevant sections of the NDPS Act at Madhapur police station, it said.
TGANB further said that it is working hard to fight the drug menace in top institutions and schools, adding that Anti-Drug Committees (ADCs) in schools and colleges should inform the local police or TGANB in case of suspicion.
It said that if they are not able to collect information then they should appoint retired police officers.
"Sometimes senior students use their juniors to smuggle drugs and cigarettes by threatening them. If they are students, we will not disclose their names," TGANB said.
