Bengaluru/Hubli: A war of words broke out between senior JD(S) leader HD Kumaraswamy and Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar on Tuesday over the alleged sex scandal involving Hassan MP Prajwal Revanna.

Kumaraswamy, the No. 2 leader of the JD(S), accused Shivakumar of conspiring to circulate the video publicly and then forming a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the case.

"Bringing out the truth about the main accused is just a part of it. How the pay drive was telecasted, and the 'great leader' (Shivakumar) who telecasted it, for what reason it was telecasted, for how many months the 'great leader' Kumaraswamy “I was aware of it,” he told reporters in Hubli.

He attended the JD(S) core-committee meeting held in Hubli, which recommended suspension of Prajwal Revanna from the party.Noting that if his nephew has committed a mistake he will have to face consequences, the former chief minister said there is a need to discuss the great leader (Shivkumar) who had organized the protest against JD(S) in Hubli today .

Prajwal is the grandson of former Prime Minister and JD(S) patriarch HD Deve Gowda and nephew of Kumaraswamy.

The Karnataka government has constituted a three-member Special Investigation Team (SIT) of IPS officers led by Additional Director General of Police B Singh to investigate the alleged sexual harassment of multiple women by Prajwal, who I am told is currently investigating. Is in Germany.

Two days ago, an FIR was lodged against Prajwal and his father Revanna at Holenarasipura police station in Hassan district for sexually assaulting their former cook.

Responding to Kumaraswamy's allegation, Shivakumar said that the JD(S) first family has been missing him for many years, without which he does not get proper sleep.Shivakumar claimed, "Kumaraswamy had said in a television interview that the BJP high command had warned him that he (Prajwal) was no good and to think before giving him the ticket. He also said that giving the ticket to Prajwal was because of his father Deve Gowda. It was a decision."

Describing the allegations against Prajwal as 'serious', the Deputy Chief Minister said that the matter here is about the identity of women.

“The information I have got is that around 200 to 300 families, their honourees, those relatives, their women and daughters, JD(S) party workers and those who were given jobs, contractors… I have seen all of them (Video) Have not seen it but people are saying so,” said Shivakumar.

The Deputy Chief Minister also took a dig at BJP leaders for not speaking on the Prajwal Revanna case."This morning, Union Home Minister Amit Shah made a statement asking people what the DCM is doing. He said there is no justice for women in Karnataka. Yo (Centre) has sent a team from the National Commission for Women Sent to Udupi when someone took pictures (in the girls hostel), but why are BJP leaders not talking about me (Prajwal Revanna's case)?" He asked.
