An ACB spokesperson said in a statement that a case was registered against DSP Chanchal Singh after investigation revealed that the accused officer, during lucrative postings, had acquired various movable and immovable properties in his name and for deposit of Rs. Had committed corrupt practices. The names of their family members and relatives as well as 'benami' (proxy) assets.

The assets include residential houses, plots, shops and commercial establishments in various districts of Jammu region and immovable properties including two hotels located in Kullu-Manali in Himachal Pradesh along with huge bank balances and valuables.

"During the investigation, after obtaining search warrants from the court, searches were conducted at the residences/offices of the accused as well as family members/relatives including residential houses and business establishments located at various places in Jammu, Srinagar and Manali. ACB "During the search, several incriminating documents and valuables were found, which were seized and taken for investigation," the statement said.

It also said that during the searches conducted at their hotels in Manali, a sale agreement executed on February 25, 2022, between Ved Prakash, resident of Shimla, and Rekha Devi, wife of DSP, was also recovered, in which they had purchased Rs. The total sale of 12-03 hectares (240 kanals) of land located in Mohali and Phati Burua Kothi in Kullu-Manali is Rs 2.85 crore, out of which he has given Rs 25 lakh through check and Rs 25 lakh in cash. ,

"During the searches conducted in Hatli, Kathua, some documents related to benami properties in the form of wills of large portions of land were also recovered," the spokesperson said. He said the searches were still going on at various places.
