Tripura Chief Minister, reacting after a video clip of a brutal attack on a couple allegedly involved in 'extramarital affair' went viral and sparked widespread outrage, said every village in West Bengal has become Sandeshkhali.

The incidents of atrocities in Sandeshkhali were a major election issue of the opposition parties following the alleged atrocities by Trinamool Congress leaders on villagers during the recent Lok Sabha elections.

The man seen in the video torturing the couple with a bamboo stick in public was reportedly a local ruling Trinamool Congress leader from Chopra in North Dinajpur district, where the incident took place following the 'kangaroo court' verdict .

Later the police arrested Trinamool Congress leader Tajemul alias JCB.

"Today, the dignity of women has been completely lost under Trinamool's Taliban rule in West Bengal," the Tripura Chief Minister said while addressing the gathering.

"Today every village of Bengal has become Sandeshkhali! This kind of diabolical atrocities on women by notorious Trinamool sponsored scoundrel Tajemul in broad daylight under the rule of a woman Chief Minister is absolutely unacceptable. I strongly condemn this incident and demand strict punishment to the culprits. I demand." The culprits,” Saha said.

The ruling BJP in the state also strongly condemned the Chopra incident.

BJP spokesperson Nabendu Bhattacharya said that the heinous atrocities being committed on people, especially women, almost every day in Trinamool Congress ruled Bengal do not happen in the world.

"If people could cast their votes in the recent Lok Sabha elections in Bengal, the results would have been otherwise," Bhattacharya, who was in Bengal during the parliamentary elections, told the media on Monday.

He alleged that in almost all the districts of Bengal, Trinamool Congress goons are openly torturing women and the police remain spectators.
