The first meeting of MeitY is likely to be held on June 13 and the follow-up discussion under the chairmanship of Secretary, MeitY, on June 18, as industry stakeholders have sent several representations on the Bill to the IT Ministry.

According to sources, the meeting is likely to be attended by the Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA) as well as officials of the Competition Commission of India (CCI).

The Digital Competition Bill, introduced by the MCA in February this year to address anti-competitive practices by Big Tech companies, has received several recommendations from top industry bodies and other stakeholders.

IT industry apex body Nasscom has said it is important to strengthen the existing regulatory framework like CCI and National Company Law Appellate Tribunal (NCLAT) before making another law.

Meanwhile, a group of IAMAI members expressed their disagreement over the submission of the draft Digital Competition Bill by the industry body.

In a letter to the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, four digital companies including Bharat Matrimony, Match Group, ShareChat and Hoichoi expressed a different view from the presentation made by IAMAI.
