New Delhi CPI(M) member John Brittas on Monday said the CUET introduced by the Center is aimed at denying qualifications and admission to south Indian students in Delhi, which was immediately condemned by Rajya President Sabha, Jagdeep Dhankar.

During the discussion on the Motion of Thanks for the President's speech, Dhankar intervened several times and objected to the remarks of Brittas, who said that the Center should entrust state governments with conducting the test.

"I have studied in JNU. JNU has been conducting its tests for 50 years without any leakage. Now you introduced CUET (Common University Entrance Test).

"The only reason you brought CUET was because you see many South Indian students getting admitted to Delhi University. You have brought CUET to deny admission here to South Indian students," Brittas said.

Dhankar intervened and condemned his statement.

"You started with a very high quote from the oath and look where you have come. In a country like ours, which it is, you are raising a different voice. I strongly condemn it," he said.

Brittas raised the issue of paper leak and said the Center should entrust state governments to carry out the test.

"You brought all the exams to Delhi," said Brittas, making certain comments against the RSS pracharaks.

Dhankar immediately intervened and asked for the comments that cannot be substantiated to be deleted.

Brittas said some training institutions and meat companies have also given electoral bonds to the BJP.

Immediately after his comment on electoral bonds, Dhankar and Brittas engaged in an exchange of words.

Dhankar intervened during the speech and said Brittas has "lost his way", while the CPI(M) member said the president is trying to derail him.

"You have completely lost your way. I can't derail you. You are derailing yourself.

"They are trying to create a mechanism by which they can get publicity. Talk about substance. Make their contribution," Dhankar said.

Brittas said the prime minister and ministers take an oath, which mentions working in the interest of all people without any discrimination.

He said the prime minister had broken his oath of office when he called Muslims "infiltrators." He said BJP members should change their party symbol from lotus to bulldozer.

"Last time in the discussion on the motion of thanks, I said that Siya Ram is not with you. You were with Nathu Ram Godse.

"You saw Him in the elections. Siya Ram left you. You have been completely defeated in Faizabad. All the gods have abandoned you," Brittas said.

The CPI(M) member continued to attack the ruling government over education issues.

"For you, education is inventing a new past, because every fascist believes that those who control the past control the future," he said.

Brittas said history has changed and Babri Masjid has been erased from Indian history.

"Tomorrow, students will study that Gandhi ji died of flu or pneumonia and Nathu Ram came to take Gandhi ji to the hospital. Our students will study History," Brittas said.

Dhankar intervened again when Brittas pointed out BJD member Sasmit Patra, whose party recently lost polls in the Odisha assembly elections.

"The history of the BJP has been to eat all allies," Brittas said.
