Chandigarh, Ever since Haryana was made a separate state in 1966, its politics has revolved around four prominent political families – Dev Lal, Bhajan Lal, Bansi Lal and HUDA.

Earlier, Haryana's three famous 'Lals' - Devi Lal, Bansi Lal and Bhajan Lal - ruled the state in turns for decades. Before the BJP came to power on its own in 2014, it was the Hooda family that took decisions.

Relatives of two famous Lals – former chief ministers Bansi Lal and Bhaja Lal – who have been contesting during parliamentary elections for years, have been sidelined this time and have not received tickets from their respective parties.

However, four family members of former Deputy Prime Minister Devi Lal, popularly known as 'Tau' Devi Lal, have contested the elections from Hisar and Kurukshetra seats.Interestingly, three members of the Devi Lal family – Lal's son Ranjit Singh Chautala, an independent MLA who recently joined the BJP; JJP ML Naina Chautala (57), wife of JJP chief and Devi Lal's grandson Ajay Singh Chautala; And Sunaina Chautala (47), wife of Ravi Chautala, cousin of INLD leader Abhay Singh Chautala, are contesting against each other from Hisa parliamentary seat.

Ravi is the son of Devi Lal and late Pratap Singh Chautala.

INLD leader Abhay Singh Chautala is contesting from Kurukshetra seat.

However, Shruti Chaudhary, granddaughter of former Chief Minister Bansilal, has not been given Congress ticket from Bhiwani-Mahendragarh seat.

The ruling BJP also did not consider fielding Kuldeep Bishnoi or his son Bhavya Bishnoi from Hisar seat. Kuldeep is the younger son of former Chief Minister Bhajan Lal.Congress has fielded sitting MLA Rao Dan Singh from Bhiwani-Mahendragarh, while BJP has fielded Ranjit Singh Chautala from Hisar.

Shruti Chaudhary was elected MP from Bhiwani-Mahendragarh in 2009, but she was defeated by BJP's Dharmbir Singh in the 2014 and 2019 Lok Sabha elections. Earlier, his late father Surendra Singh and grandfather Bansi Lal had held the Bhiwani seat several times.

In 2009, Bhajan Lal was elected from Hisar as a candidate of his party Haryana Janhit Congress (BL). After his death, his son Kuldeep Bishnoi won the 2011 by-election.

In 2019, Kuldeep's son Bhavya Bishnoi contested from Hisar Sagar while in Congress, but was unsuccessful. He was defeated by bureaucrat-turned-politician Brijendra, son of former Union minister Birende Singh, who was the BJP candidate.

Now, Kuldeep and Bhavya are in BJP, while Birendra Singh and Brijendra Singh have recently left BJP and joined Congress.

From Rohtak, former chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda's son Deepender Singh Hooda, currently a Rajya Sabha MP, has contested the elections from his family bastion.

Deependra is a three-time former MP from Rohtak and in 2019 he had lost to BJP's Arvind Sharma, against whom he is again in the fray this time.

A few days ago, when journalists had asked Kuldeep Bishnoi whether his supporters were angry with BJP not making him the candidate from Hisar, he had quipped, 'Workers have feelings...when a leader does not get the ticket. Yes, I am human nature that they get disappointed but it does not cause protest.Bishnoi had said, "Through you (media), I appeal to all the workers that now is the time to work hard and strengthen the hands of Prime Minister Modi. We have to form the BJP government again at the Centre."

Reacting to Congress's denial of his ticket from Bhiwani-Mahendragarh, Shrut Chaudhary said, "I got the opportunity in 2009 and I worked with honesty and dedication for the constituency. As an opposition member, I worked for the people's issues. "Continued to raise." Earlier this constituency (Bhiwani) was nurtured by my grandfather and my father.,

On not getting the ticket this time, he said that the party's decision will have to be accepted.

"I want to tell my workers not to be disappointed," she said.

Congress leaders Shruti Chaudhary and Kiran Chaudhary also said they accept the party's decision.

Voting will be held on May 25 in the sixth phase of elections on all 10 seats of Haryana.
