Special Judge Kaveri Baweja of Rouse Avenue Court pronounced the order after hearing both the sides at length in a case related to the alleged Delhi Excise Policy scam. Justice Baweja also rejected Kavita's plea seeking rejection of CBI's request for her remand.

The court further directed that the interrogation of the accused during this period should be conducted at a place with CCTV coverage following the guidelines laid down by the Supreme Court and the footage should be preserved by the CBI.

The accused will have to undergo medical examination once every 48 hours.Further, the accused should be allowed to meet his lawyer for half an hour every day between 6 pm. The court said that till 7 pm it should be ensured that their conversation is not heard by the CBI officials.

The accused is also allowed to meet his family members and eat home-cooked food brought by an assistant.

In addition, the accused is allowed to keep some personal belongings and books.

Seeking Kavita's remand, the CBI said in its petition, "Kavita needs to be arrested for custodial interrogation in the present case so that she can be confronted with the evidence and witnesses so that any nexus between the accused/suspects can be established."
