The Indian star athlete demonstrated the basics of javelin throw to Dinesh Karthik on JioCinema's 'Get Set Gold', where he also showed his personal side by discussing some of his off-court interests such as his hobbies, favorite movies and type of music . He listens before he competes.

Neeraj shared how his throw in the World Under-20 Championship 2016 is the only throw with which he is satisfied. Till date, I am satisfied with only one of my throws, which was 86.48m at the World Under-20 Championship 2016. That was one throw where I thought it was a special, unique one, but I'm not satisfied with any throw.since.

He said, "I feel that I have not reached my peak yet; I have won gold medals and won many competitions, but I still believe that I have not reached my best and I have yet to improve on my throws. Not satisfied."

The 2023 world champion opened up about his hobbies, including a short-lived shopping habit that complicated foreign purchases.

“I have many hobbies. I like hanging out with my friends.I also love shopping, but now I shop less because it seems like a waste of money. We can spend that money elsewhere. I like collecting unique things. I once passed by a shop in Germany which had unique artefacts, I liked the statue of a warrior sitting on a horse throwing a spear, so I bought it without thinking, thinking, 'How will I take this to India? ' Eventually, one of my brothers managed it,' said the javelin star.

Neeraj also revealed how he spent his time during the COVID-19 lockdown by watching various classic Hollywood movies."During the lockdown, I watched the movies with the best IMDb ratings. So, there were The Shawshank Redemption, Forrest Gump, Cast Away, A Beautiful Mind and The Pianist. I recently watched a movie, Society of the Snow. I would like to," he said , “Telling everyone to watch it makes me feel like our lives have gotten so much better.”

He further explained what kind of music he listens to before competing."I don't have a favorite playlist, but during events, I mostly listen to loud music, like Imagine Dragons. Once when I was competing in the Asian Games and I heard Shiva Tandav, I got goosebumps. I (Adrenaline – like playing music) Because normally, I am fine, but when I compete, I become very aggressive,' said Neeraj.

The 26-year-old is one of the best javelin throwers in the world at the moment as the reigning Olympic (Tokyo 2020) and world champion (Budapest 2023).

He earned a silver medal at the 2022 World Championships in Eugene.He has also won the gold medal at the Asian Games twice (2018 Jakarta, 2022 Hangzhou) and the gold medal at the 2018 Commonwealth Games (Gold Coast).
