Jaipur: After embarrassing the Congress by not withdrawing his nomination from Banswara Lok Sabha seat in support of Bharatiya Tribal Party candidate Arvind Damor, he on Tuesday said he will contest the elections with "full strength".

Congress candidate for Damor and Bagidaura assembly by-election, Kapur Singh, did not withdraw his nomination papers despite the party's decision to support BAP candidates Rajkumar Roat and Jaykrishna Patel.

Damor further said that if he had been told that he would have to withdraw his nomination, he would have refused to contest the elections in the first place.

"I am fighting for the self-respect of all those with Congress ideology who think that the party should not forge an alliance with the local BAP," he said, adding that he would run "with all his might as a Congress candidate". 'Will contest elections from.Damor said that hours before the deadline for filing nominations on April 4, he was suddenly asked by the local Congress leadership to file his nomination.

However, on Sunday evening, AICC in-charge of Rajasthan Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa posted on 'X' that the party will support Bharat Adivasi Party (BAP candidates Roat and Patel) in the Banswara Lok Sabha seat and Bagidore Assembly by-elections respectively.

According to this decision, Damor and Singh had to withdraw their nomination papers. Monday was its last day but party leaders say that they could not contact both of them.

Damor told that he was campaigning in an area of ​​the assembly constituency where there is a network problem. He said, “I was campaigning yesterday in the constituency where there is a network problem.If any leader had tried to contact me yesterday, they would have failed."

Rajasthan Congress chief Govind Singh Dotasara said on Monday that action would be taken against Damor and Singh.

There were also reports of his expulsion but the party spokesperson did not confirm it.

A section of Congress leaders were keen on an alliance with BAP on the Banswara seat, where former Congress minister Mahendrajit Singh Malviya was contesting as the BJP candidate.

Malviya, who was Congress MLA from Bagidaura, had joined BJP in February.

The by-election on Bagidaura seat will also be held along with the Lok Sabha elections in Banswara on April 26.There are a total of 25 Lok Sabha seats in Rajasthan where voting will be held in two phases on April 19 and 26.

Congress has left two seats – Nagaur and Sikar – for its alliance partners.

CPI(M)'s Amra Ram and RLP's Hanuman Beniwal are contesting the Lok Sabha elections in alliance with the Congress, while the BJP is contesting on 25 seats.
