Chandigarh, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Tuesday asked voters of Ferozepur Lok Sabha seat to vote for AAP and end the dominance of Akali Dal in the region.
Mann made this appeal while addressing a public meeting in support of AA candidate Jagdeep Singh Kaka Brar contesting from Ferozepur seat.
Mann said, "You defeated the veterans in the 2022 assembly elections. This time the fort of Ferozepur also has to be demolished, which means Akali Dal will have to lose from Ferozepur."
The Ferozepur seat is currently represented by Shiromani Akali Dal chief Sukhbi Singh Badal, who has made way for another candidate this time.Mann said that all the members of the Badal family have lost the recent elections.
'Only Harsimrat Kaur Badal is left. Harsimrat Kaur's deposit from Bathinda seat is going to be forfeited in this election. After that all the people of Badal family will be defeated. Then they will not blame each other by saying 'you lost'. 'You lose 'cause everyone will lose,' he said.
He said Punjab's "dynastic and traditional politicians" were upset that people from ordinary families became MLAs, ministers and chief ministers.Mann said, "These people considered power as their birthright and positions as their ancestral property."
He also took a dig at former Finance Minister Manpreet Badal and alleged that when he was in office, it was his habit to cite the state treasury being empty.
He said, "We have never said this till date. We are filling the coffers of the Punjab government."
The Chief Minister said, “We have given 43,000 government jobs in the last two years. A total of 829 AA man clinics have been established, where two crore people have received free treatment, excellent schools have been opened.
He said, "This year, about 2.5 lakh children changed their schools and took admission in government schools. I want to convert your compulsion into my choice. Today it is your compulsion to enroll your children in private schools and not in private hospitals. Get treatment because you still do not trust government schools and hospitals.
“In the coming days, I will make government schools and hospitals so good that choosing private schools and hospitals will not become your compulsion, but your choice."
