New Delhi [India], Delhi Police Special Cell has arrested an active member of the notorious Kala Jathedi-Anil Chhipi gang, who was wanted in connection with the firing at the residence of a businessman in Subhash Place, officials said on Sunday. According to the police, the arrested accused has been identified as Mohit alias Happy Pehalwan (26), resident of Jhajjar, Haryana. He was earlier involved in four heinous cases of attempt to murder and robbery in the Delhi-NCR region. DCP Special Cell Amit Kaushik said that on April 1, there was a firing incident at the businessman's house in Pitampura and the arrested accused was wanted in this case. Upon enquiry, it was revealed that the businessman was receiving threatening calls demanding money in the name of the dreaded Kala Jatheri-Anil Chhipi gang. After the victim refused to give the money, the accused opened fire at his house.Accordingly, a case was registered under sections 386 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) at Subhash Place Police Station. Two accused, Neeraj alias Nimbu and Sunny, residents of Bahadurgarh, Haryana, were arrested by the police on April 2. During interrogation, the duo revealed that they were members of the same gang and had opened fire at the complainant's house. Directed by Kala Jatheri-Ani Chhipi and Mohit aka Happy Pehalwan. They told the police that they did not want to threaten the businessman into paying the extortion money, however, the complainant refused to accept their demand.Subsequently, on April 17, three unidentified people came on a scooter and fired six rounds at the victim's house. After the incident, the victim contacted the police and lodged a complaint. After this, a case was registered under sections 336 and 34 of IPC. A case was registered under relevant sections of the Arms Act at Subhash Place police station. Due to the sensitivity of the matter, a team of Special Cell, Southern Range also started working on the said case. During investigation, on April 22, the police got information about Mohit alias Happy Pehalwan, a criminal of Kala Jatheri-Anil Chhipi gang, who was wanted in incidents of extortion and firing.Additionally, the team worked on the ground to develop information and collected further information about the accused through technical and manual surveillance. Police received secret information that Mohit would come to Mundka Industrial Area with arms and ammunition to fire again at the complainant as he refused to pay the extortion money. On receiving the input, a raid team was formed and a trap was laid in the area of ​​Mundka Industrial Area on Rohtak Road. During the operation, the team spotted accused Mohit at Mundka Industrial Area metro station and nabbed him. A country-made pistol, two live cartridges and a motorcycle were also recovered from him.A case has been registered against the accused in the Special Cell Police Station. Police are investigating the matter further.
