A police officer said three people have been arrested in this connection and 4.7 kg of Alprazolam worth more than Rs 1 crore has also been recovered.

The arrested persons have been identified as Rachit Kumar (22), a resident of Uttarakhand; Namit Choudhary (34) resident of Uttar Pradesh and Wang Rajender (49) resident of Telangana.

According to the police, the accused had also set up an illegal manufacturing unit for Alprazolam in Gajraula, Uttar Pradesh.

Alprazolam was supplied through couriers by hiding it inside sewn polythene to avoid detection by courier companies and X-ray machines at airports.

Police said that in the first week of February this year, an input was received regarding an interstate drug cartel involved in trafficking of psychotropic substances.Deputy Commissioner of Police (Special Branch) Amit Kaushik said, "During the investigation, members of this cartel were identified and their activities were monitored."

The DCP further said that on April 25, the police team intercepted a suspicious parcel sent by members of this cartel at the warehouse of a courier company at Delhi's IGI airport.

"On opening the parcel, 2 kg psychotropic substance was found packed in two packets or silver colored plastic polythene, covered on all sides by two or three hard card box layers to avoid detection from X-ray machine," the DCP said. Was covered." ,

During investigation, raids were conducted in Haridwar and the person who booked the alleged parcel was identified as Rachit and arrested.

The DCP said, “On his notice, a packet containing 1 kg of Alprazolam (disclosed by accused Rachit) was recovered from his house.,

At the behest of Rachit, Namit, who had supplied the seized drugs to him, was also arrested in Haridwar.

"Two packets containing a total of 1.71 kg of Alprazolam (disclosed by accused Namit) were recovered from his house in Bijnor," the DCP said.

During further investigation, the receiver of the seized parcel was identified as Vanga Rajender and he was also arrested.

"As per Namit's disclosure, a search warrant of a factory located in Gajraula, Uttar Pradesh was obtained from a court. The factory was searched in the presence of police and officials of the drug department of Amroha and a large team.1,570 kg of raw material (1,170 kg of salt and 40 liters of chemical) used to manufacture Alprazolam was recovered,” the DCP said.

The police officer said, "This factory was running illegally and was equipped with all the equipment used for manufacturing Alprazolam. The factory has been sealed. The owner of the factor is still absconding."
