New Delhi: Delhi Police has arrested two people and claimed to have busted two warehouses of illegal/unauthorized commercial and domestic gas cylinders in outer Delhi, officials said on Friday.

Police said they have arrested Uday Singh (34) and Ravi Khurana (34).

A total of 1,699 domestic and commercial cylinders and 17 gas-refilling pumps were recovered from their possession, he said.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Outer) Jimmy Chiram said that on June 6, a tip-off was received about an illegal gas cylinder-refilling warehouse operating in the area.

The officer further said that a team was formed which conducted several raids in Ranhola and Nihal Vihar areas.

"We caught two suspects - Uday Singh and Ravi Khurana. Subsequently, a case was registered under sections 285, 286, 120B IPC and 7 Essential Commodities Act in two different police stations," the DCP said.

Police said both the accused revealed that they used to buy domestic cylinders from various gas agencies and fill commercial cylinders from the domestic cylinders and sell them at higher rates.

Further investigation is underway, the officer said.
