New Delhi [India], Delhi Police has arrested four fraudsters who duped travelers by posing as customs officers, police said Delhi Police arrested 30-year-old Riyaz Ahmed, 37-year-old Qamaruddin, 33-year-old Kasmuddin and 34- Is. According to DCP Airport Usha Ranganani, on April 3, a PCR call was received at IGI Airport Police Station, where the caller informed that some unknown people had fraudulently taken away his luggage, passport and 1800 Riyals. The luggage was checked and then they went away with their luggage. The victim, Riyasat Ali, a resident of Udham Singh Nagar, said that when he came from Saudi Arabia on April 3 and came out of 'Arrival', T-3, IG Airport, his name was called by an unknown person who introduced himself. He was from the customs department and asked him to show his luggage, after this, the man took him to the multi level car parking and asked him to show his luggage and alleged that there was illegal gold in his luggage. H further said that the accused was accompanied by another person, who identified himself as from the Customs Department.He further alleged that the accused booked a taxi from IGI Airport to Sector-21 Dwarka Metro Station and then took his passport, cash and 1800 Riyals. On the pretext of investigation, he snatched the mobile phone and ran away leaving it there. During the investigation, all the CCTV cameras of the airport i.e. Arrivals T-3, multi-level car parking and the route taken by the complainant and accused persons were closely examined. Analysis was done. After analyzing more than 100 CCTV cameras, the registration number of the taxi/cab booked by the accused persons was traced, thereafter the ownership of the cab was traced and the driver Naresh Kumar, resident of Mahipalpur, Delhi was traced and his Investigation was done. , During investigation, he also confirmed the statement of the complainant.The driver further revealed that the accused persons had paid for the taxi through UPI gateway. The mobile number through which the UPI transaction was made was traced and found to be registered in the name of Riya Ahmed, resident of Kalkaji, Delhi. When a call was made to the suspected mobile number, it was found switched off. After this, Riyaz Ahmed was arrested from one of his hideouts in Jaitpur. Upon continuous questioning, he confessed to his crime and revealed that he runs a barber shop in Jaitpur. He had committed the crime along with his associates Rehman Ali, Kasmuddin and Kamaruddin.Accused Riyaz Ahmed further revealed that Kasmuddin is the mastermind of the entire scheme and Rehman Ali was working at High Barber Shop for the last 3 months. Rehman Ali and Kasmuddin are childhood friends. Co-accused Rehman Ali alias Mon was also arrested in the case at the behest of accused Riyaz Ahmed. He also revealed that Kasmuddin is the mastermind of this scheme and on his instructions, they had planned to defraud innocent passengers at Delhi's IGI airport. After further investigation, Kamruddin, a resident of Panipat, was nabbed from Afzalgarh, Distt. Celebrating Eid at friend's house in Bijnor, UP.He was detained on the basis of technical surveillance and confessed to his involvement in the case. A mobile phone of the victim was found in the possession of Qamaruddin, who confessed that he had known Qasmuddin in the UAE, where the two became friends. He also confessed that the plan was hatched by Kasmuddin and executed by the group. Further, at the instance of accused Kamruddin, master mind accused Kasmuddin, resident of Udham Singh Nagar, Uttarakhand, was arrested from his house and his original passport was produced at his instance. The victim and another mobile phone were recovered. He was interrogated in the case and arrested.Upon questioning, he revealed that he worked as an electrician and further added that he had been visiting the UAE on a work visa for the last 10 years. During his visit, he noticed the customs officers working at the airport who check the luggage of passengers. He was not able to earn enough for his livelihood, so to make quick money he hatched a plan to dupe innocent passengers by pretending to be a customs officer at the baggage checking at IGI airport and along with his friends he set up a The plan was hatched and they cheated the passengers at IGI Airport. The investigation into the case is ongoing to ascertain the possible involvement of the accused persons in other similar cases.
