New Delhi [India]: A life sentence prisoner, who was absconding after coming out on parole for more than a year, was caught by Delhi Police from Guwahati in Assam, officials said on Sunday. .

The case is related to a 16-year-old triple murder case registered on April 19, 2008.

Nitin Verma (42) was convicted by the court and sentenced to life imprisonment.

On April 19, 2008, police received information that 2-3 people had been murdered in Palam village of Delhi. Police registered a case under section 302 of the Indian Penal Code at Dwarka police station.

Local officials reached the spot and found bodies of a man and two women lying in the house, who had been murdered with some sharp weapon.But, the police did not find anything stolen, because every item and jewelery was lying in the house as it was.

During interrogation, it was revealed that the son of the deceased couple was also admitted in DDU Hospital.

Investigation revealed that Nitin Verma had murdered his pregnant wife and parents. He allegedly killed her because of an extramarital affair.

According to the police, Nitin tried to fake an accident to save himself from the crime.

The accused was chargesheeted for the above murders and the court sentenced him to life imprisonment.

He was absconding for more than a year after being released on parole.A team from New Delhi Range (NDR), RK Puram, Crime Branch was tasked to trace the absconding convict.

Police said that during further investigation it was revealed that the accused lived in Palam Colony and worked in Daryaganj.

When the police reached the said place, the accused had already fled to Assam.

Police found his location in Guwahati. It was also found that Nitin was repeatedly changing his mobile handset, SIM and location to escape from the police.After this, the Crime Branch team raided possible locations in Guwahati and the culprit was arrested.

Police said that Nitin also admitted his involvement in the above mentioned case, after which he was booked under appropriate section of the law.
