New Delhi [India], Delhi Police Anti-Narcotics Cell on Saturday arrested four drug smugglers and recovered 245.500 kg of fine quality cannabis.

East Delhi Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Apoorva Gupta said, "The anti-narcotics squad of East District, under the leadership of Inspector Arun, has recovered about 250 kg of ganja. A few days ago, we had received information that, on the pretext of shifting, army personnel were Domestic goods, drugs were being supplied in large quantities in Delhi. Pursuing the information, we got a tip-off that a truck was coming to Ghazipur vegetable market to supply drugs.

“We conducted a raid and recovered around 215 kg of ganja from the truck.Based on the revelations of truck driver Inderpal and his assistant Manish, we reached Lublu Chaudhary. Moreover, based on the disclosure of Lublu Chaudhary, we arrested a person named Mohammad Faiyaz. DCP Gupta said, alias Hafiz, who is a resident of Ghaziabad, 4 arrests have been made in the case along with a total of 245.5 kg ganja and truck.

Earlier on June 12, the Anti-Narcotics Cell in Dwarka district of Delhi had made an important arrest involving a drug smuggler and two consumers.

According to officials, the raid was conducted on the basis of secret information and local surveillance, after which the team reached Sharma Medical Hall in Najafgarh.Medical hall owner Prashant Sharma was found with 98 tablets of buprenorphine drug (a psychotropic substance) and 8 anvil injections along with syringes and needles. Additionally, two consumers, Mohammad Wahid and Lalit Rohilla, were caught.

He was found to have one tablet, one syringe, one anvil injection and two needle kit sets. During interrogation, he admitted to consuming these substances as psychotropic drugs, recently purchased from Sharma Medical Hall.

The accused were arrested under the NDPS Act, while Mohammed Wahid and Lalit Rohilla were granted bail due to the nature of their offence, and Prashant Sharma was sent to judicial custody for 14 days.
