New Delhi [India], In compliance with the statutory provisions, Delhi Home Minister Kailash Gehlot held a meeting of the Sentence Review Board (SRB).

A meeting was held with Additional Chief Secretary (Home), Director General (Prison), PR and other members. Secretary (Law), Principal District Judge, Special. Police Commissioner and Director of Social Welfare on 23 February 2024.

In the meeting, the SRB considered a total of 92 cases and in 14 cases, premature release of the culprits from jail was recommended. The proposal has been submitted to the Lieutenant Governor for approval.

In a statement issued, Gehlot said, "The Sentence Review Board has carefully considered each case on its merits, keeping in mind the principles of justice and rehabilitation."

He said, "The recommended early release reflects our commitment to reintegrating reformed individuals into society and reducing the burden on our prison system. We believe in giving a second chance to those who have committed actual crimes while incarcerated." Has shown improvement and repentance."
