New Delhi [India], Amid the growing dispute between Delhi and Haryana over the water crisis in the national capital, Delhi Water Minister Atishi on Friday said that she will take up the path of 'Satyagraha' and initiate a ' indefinite fasting' from today.

She said that despite all possible efforts, the Haryana government is not providing complete water to Delhi, resulting in 28 lakh people not receiving water.

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader said that she will go to Raj Ghat to pay homage to Mahatma Gandhi, after which she will begin an indefinite fast at Bhogal, Jangpura at noon.

Atishi addressed Mahatma Gandhi has taught that if one has to fight against injustice, one must adopt the path of Satyagraha."

"I will start 'Water Satyagraha' from today. I will go to Raj Ghat at 11 am and pay homage to Gandhiji. I will begin indefinite fast at Bhogal, Jangpura from 12 o'clock. I will remain fast until the people of Delhi they get their fair share of water from Haryana," he added.

Atishi had announced on Wednesday that if Delhi does not get its "fair share" of water by June 21, it will be forced to hold a 'Satyagraha'.

The Bharatiya Janata Party has continued to attack the Delhi government over the water crisis.

BJP MP Bansuri Swaraj alleged that the crisis has been "orchestrated" by the AAP government to "encourage corruption".

"It almost seems that this crisis, which is not a natural crisis, has been orchestrated by the Kejriwal government to encourage its own corruption as well as to encourage the illegal oil tanker mafia," Bansuri Swaraj told ANI.

"Delhi is in a terrible state. The entire city is parched and the Kejriwal government is only indulging in theatrics. Delhi Minister Atishi, instead of working on the ground and instead of taking appropriate measures, is now surrendering to mere theater and threatens the people of Delhi with anshan (quick),” he added.

Delhi has been reeling from a water crisis for almost a month amid scorching heat. People in several parts of the city are forced to queue to collect water from tankers. They have expressed their frustration over the situation, demanding an end to their problems.

The political row over the water crisis has continued to intensify with BJP and AAP at loggerheads.

The Congress, which contested the Lok Sabha elections in alliance with the AAP, also attacked the Delhi government over the issue, with Delhi Congress president Devender Yadav calling it a "misleading" the people.
