New Delhi: Delhi Mayor Shelly Oberoi has written a letter to MCD Commissioner Gyanes Bharti, demanding action against illegal parking that plagues the city, according to an official statement.

The statement issued on Sunday said Oberoi has asked the commissioner to direct the officials concerned to identify and list all illegal parking spaces in the city, take action against them and submit a comprehensive report within five days .

"It has come to my notice that a lot of illegal parking is going on in various parts of Delhi. These illegal parking are causing trouble and inconvenience to the public due to traffic jam and are also tarnishing the image of the Corporation. Moreover ,It has also caused huge revenue loss to the corporation...” the letter written by Oberoi said.

"In view of the above, it is desired that necessary instructions be given to the concerned officer to identify various illegal parking going on in Delhi, prepare a list of all illegal parking, take strict action and submit the report to the office of the undersigned (Mayor ) within five days,” it added.

Taking cognizance of media reports on illegal parking, the AAP-led Municipal Corporation has demanded action from the Commission against the culprits, the statement said.

The statement said that such illegal parking has been reported in other markets including Subhash Nagar, Karo Bagh, Ghaffar Market, Ajmal Khan Road.
