New Delhi [India], Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena has approved the construction of a new police station at Bijwasan railway station. The new police station has been created after reorganization of the existing boundaries of the police station in Delhi Cantt. Railway station, the LG office said in a press release.

At present, there are 13 railway stations under the jurisdiction of 'Delhi Cantt Railway Station' police station. However, after the construction of the new police station at Bijwasan railway station, 3 out of 13 railway stations, i.e. Palam, Shahbad Mohammadpur and Bijwasan, having a total length of about 9 km, will come under its jurisdiction. Both Railway Police Stations i.e. Delhi Cantt. And Bijwasan sub-division will function under Old Delhi Railway Station.

The construction of the new police station will cater to almost all the needs, apart from strengthening security and effective management of law and order. 1.5 lakh population lives in the area.

Bijwasan Railway Station is expected to be operational soon as its construction work is in full swing. Once fully operational, it will emerge as a mega terminal station. This railway station is close to IGI Airport and many long distance trains run and terminate from here. Effective policing will be required to provide security to railway stations as well as passengers.

The manpower and other resources required for the proposed Railway Police Station will be met from the existing resources of Delhi Police.
