The accused was identified as Praveen Kumar, who was engaged in illegal manufacturing of veterinary oxytocin injection for the last six months without necessary license.

"A stock of various materials used in the manufacturing process was found in the premises, which included empty plastic bottles, crimp caps, sealing machines and raw material for preparing oxytocin," the officer said.

Oxytocin Veterinary Injection is a restricted drug indicated for obstetric use in cows, sheep and horses. However, it is widely misused in dairy cattle to increase milk production, especially in dairies.

According to the Drug Control Department of the Delhi government, information regarding illegal manufacturing activities related to oxytocin was received based on the intelligence given by the Station House Officer (SHO) of Bhalswa Der police station on Saturday."A joint team of the Drug Control Department and Delhi Police raided the premises in Swaroop Nagar area and unearthed a clandestine operation of manufacturing Oxytocin Veterinary Injection by accused Praveen Kumar," a senior Drug Control Department official said.

The accused also failed to produce any valid drug license or purchase record of the material used in the manufacturing.

"He (the accused) used to make this preparation from a concentrated solution and after diluting it, manually filled it in plastic bottles. These plastic bottles were sealed manually with the help of a crimping machine. Also know Turns out that illegal oxytocin was being manufactured and supplied to various dairy farms without proper documentation, as told by him, he used to obtain this oxytocin-concentrated solution from Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh.,

During the operation, samples of illegally manufactured Oxytocy were collected for further testing/analysis as per the Drugs and Cosmetic Act, 1940.

"Additionally, a significant quantity of oxytocin preparations along with manufacturing equipment and materials were seized by the authorities," the official said."
