New Delhi, following the orders of Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena, the Delhi government on Monday ordered the transfer of 5,000 school teachers, who have been posted in the same school for over 10 years, to be kept on hold.

Saxena on Sunday directed Chief Secretary Naresh Kumar to keep the transfer orders issued last week on hold as an interim measure after a delegation of Delhi BJP leaders and teachers' representatives met the LG in his office. .

However, addressing a press conference here, Delhi Education Minister Atishi alleged a BJP conspiracy behind the transfer orders.

He also congratulated the people of Delhi for the withdrawal of the orders.

In an official order, the education department said that it had received several protests in the matter of recent transfer orders issued by the Directorate of Education (DoE), pertaining to teachers who have remained for more than 10 years in the same school.

"After reviewing the representations and hearing the delegations, the competent authority decided to constitute an appropriate committee, comprising representatives of all stakeholders and experts, to take a holistic, comprehensive and fair view of the matter," he said.

Therefore, until further orders, the transfer orders of teachers issued on 02/07/2024 remain suspended. The positions of all these teachers are restored with effect from 01.07.2024,” he said.

A circular titled 'Directorate of Education Teaching Staff Transfer Online Applications' directed all teachers who have worked for more than 10 years in a school to compulsorily apply for a transfer.

Otherwise, the Department of Education will transfer them to any school, according to the circular issued by the Department of Education on June 11.

A few days ago, Atishi had directed the chief secretary to immediately stop the mandatory transfer of teachers who have been teaching in the same school for more than 10 years, following allegations of corruption in the transfer process.
