New Delhi: The Delhi government is planning to restart its scheme of doorstep delivery of services, which was put on hold after the contracts of the agencies managing the 1076 helpline expired, according to minister Kailash Gehlot.

Under the scheme, Delhiites can avail doorstep delivery of Delhi government services across various departments by dialing toll-free number 1076 and booking a home visit by 'Mobile Sahayak'.

Gehlot on Thursday said he has directed officials to prepare a proposal to restart the helpline by involving other agencies. He said that the scheme was given extension by the cabinet.

Under this scheme, a 'mobile assistant' visits the homes of the applicants, collects and uploads all the required documents and then submits it to the concerned department.

A fee of Rs 50 is charged from applicants for submitting the application.

A centralized call center was set up to receive and resolve any complaints from applicants.

The Doorstep Delivery Scheme was launched by the Arvind Kejriwal government in September 2018 to remove the need for people to visit the offices of various departments and eliminate the role of middlemen who used to fleece them.

Initially, 30 services were provided under this scheme and gradually this number was increased to 100.

According to officials, the government is now planning to increase the scope of this scheme to 200 services.
