New Delhi, A court here on Friday sought response from the CBI and ED on an application filed by BRS leader K Kavita seeking her personal appearance before the court when her judicial custody period in the alleged Delhi excise scam ends on May 7. A demand has been made to present.

Special Judge Kaveri Baweja issued notice to the investigating agencies and directed them to file their response by May 6, when the court will hear arguments on Kavita's application.

In her application, the BRS leader's lawyer Nitish Rana told the court that she wanted to appear physically before the court instead of appearing through video conference from Tihar Central Jail, where she is currently lodged.

"The applicant is a victim of severe harassment and harassment inflicted upon him purely for malicious and vexatious considerations. He looks forward to exposing the falsehood, lack of fact and hollowness in the case established against him during the proceedings." Claim has been made in the application.

On April 23, the court had directed the jail authorities to produce Kavita before it at the end of her judicial custody.

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) arrested Kavita (46), daughter of former Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao, from her Banjara Hills residence in Hyderabad on March 15.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) had arrested her on April 11 from Tiha jail, where she was lodged in a money laundering case being investigated by the ED. His judicial custody in both the cases will end on May 7.
