New Delhi, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Wednesday expressed deep grief over the death of more than 40 people in Kuwait City.

Jaishankar said on Twitter, "Deeply shocked by the news of fire incident in Kuwait City. More than 40 deaths have reportedly occurred and more than 50 people are hospitalised."

It is believed that most of the victims are Indians.

The Indian Ambassador to Kuwait has visited the camp where the fire broke out.

Jaishankar said, "We await further information. Deepest condolences to the families of those who tragically lost their lives. Wishing a speedy and full recovery to the injured."

“Our embassy will provide full assistance to all concerned in this regard,” he said.
