More than 300 people have been killed in northern Baghlan province alone, while more than 1,000 homes have been destroyed, the UN agency said on social media on Saturday.

"WFP is now distributing fortified biscuits to survivors," it said.

At least 160 people have been killed and 117 others injured after rain and flash floods lashed major parts of war-torn Afghanistan's Baghlan, Takhar, Badakhshan and Ghor provinces, local officials said Saturday.

Afghanistan has been facing heavy rains and floods since last month, causing loss of life and property.
