Abdul Muhari, spokesman for the National Disaster Management and Mitigation Agency, said the natural disasters were caused by heavy rains in Luvu regency since Friday.

As a result, more than 1,800 houses and mosques were submerged under up to three meters of water and a total of 103 houses were destroyed, the spokesperson said, Xinhua news agency reported.

The spokesperson said that apart from this, 42 other houses were also washed away in the stream.

Additionally, 115 people were forced to flee their homes and take shelter in their relatives' homes or mosques located in safer places, he said in a statement.

He said that the work of evacuating the disaster affected people continued on Saturday also.
