Patna: Election campaigning in Bihar ended on Thursday as the eastern state witnessed two months of intense campaigning by political bigwigs for the 40 Lok Sabha seats with over 7.6 crore voters.

Star campaigners including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, BJP president JP Nadda, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav campaigned for their party's candidates in the politically crucial state.

Campaigning for eight Lok Sabha seats in Bihar ended on Thursday, where over 1.60 crore voters will decide the fate of over 100 candidates in the seventh and final phase of voting.

Voting is to be held in Patna Sahib, Patliputra, Arrah, Nalanda, Jehanabad, Buxar, Sasaram and Karakat on Saturday.

The Prime Minister continued to lead the NDA's campaign with rallies in Baksa and Patliputra, which the BJP wants to retain, and Karakat where an ally is in the fray.

In the last general elections, the NDA had won 39 of the 40 seats in Bihar and the Prime Minister looked determined to ensure another stellar performance by the alliance with a total of 15 rallies in the state, where all the seats were held in all seven phases apart from -Separate voting took place.His road show in the capital.

Shah also took part in rallies in Karakat and the reserved seat Sasaram, which the BJP wants to retain.

Former Congress chief Rahul Gandhi, who was last seen in Bhagalpur for a rally in the state more than a month ago, flew in to address three back-to-back election rallies in Patna Sahib, where his party is contesting the elections, and I for Patliputra and Arrah, for allies RJD and CPI(ML)L, respectively.

BJP President J.P. Nadda campaigned in Arrah, where Union Minister R.K. Singh is aiming for a hat-trick, besides in Nalanda and Jehanabad, where ally JD(U) led by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar wants to retain its hold.

Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge campaigned in Patna Sahib and Sasaram, where the party is also contesting.

In Karakat, NDA candidate and Rashtriya Lok Morcha chief Upendra Kushwaha got full support from the BJP as the PM and the Home Minister, besides Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, held two rallies in his support.Singh also campaigned in Patna Sahib and Buxar and at all rallies urged people to forgive him for speaking while sitting due to a recent leg injury.

Since BJP is in the fray on five seats in the final phase in Bihar, regional stalwarts have also been fielded.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath campaigned in Patna Sahib and Arrah, while Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav did the same in Patna Sahib and Patliputra.

Former Union minister Ravi Shankar Prasad is contesting re-election in Patna Sahib and he got some more support from former cabinet colleagues Nirmala Sitharaman and Smriti Irani, both of whom interacted with famous citizens of the state capital, which falls in the constituency.

Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi was also in Bihar to drum up support for AIMIM candidates in Patliputra and Karakat, where he criticized the RJD-Congress-Left alliance, and vowed to support a government at the Center that includes "Modi Or no other "BJP leader as Prime Minister"

RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, who claims to have created a record of addressing more than 250 rallies in multiple phases of elections, campaigned sitting on a wheelchair with a belt wrapped around his injured back.
