He said drones were used to transport drugs from Pakistan-based drug smugglers.

He said an FIR has been registered in Amritsar under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act and investigation is underway to establish backward and forward links.

Earlier, the Commissionerate Police Jalandhar had busted an international drug syndicate spanning five countries with the arrest of three family members, while also recovering 48 kg of heroin and Rs 21 lakh from their possession.

The arrested people have been identified as Satnam Singh alias Babbi, native of Dhandian village of Nawanshahr, his daughter Aman Rosi and his son-in-law Hardeep Singh.

Apart from seizing heroin and drug money, the police also seized three expensive cars from their possession.

DGP Yadav had said that the drugs syndicate is spread in five countries - Iran, Afghanistan, Turkey, Pakistan and Canada.

He had said that preliminary investigation has revealed that the sea route of Gujarat and the land route of Jammu and Kashmir were used to send this heroin consignment to the Indian territory.

The DGP said Türkiye-based heroin smuggler Navpreet Singh alias Nav is the mastermind of the syndicate.

Naveen was also involved in the seizure of 350 kg of heroin by the Delhi Police Special Cell in 2021.
