Kolkata: Credo Center of Excellence, in partnership with the Apparel Skills Council, has unveiled the "first" fashion incubation center in the country in Kolkata to boost West Bengal's Rs 40,000 crore textile industry, an official said.

“This is the first Fashion Incubation Center in India and the first PPP mode center approved by the Apparel Made Ups Home Furnishing Sector Skill (AMHSSC Council) under the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship. The Council has three more centers in Gurugram, Guwahati and Tripura, which imparts basic tailoring training and is completely owned by the government, said Pinak Roychowdhury, trustee of the foundation.

West Bengal has a large number of MSME-based apparel manufacturing, but exports are low due to lack of modern manufacturing, design and supply ecosystem.

Speaking on the occasion, Padmashree awardee and AMHSSC Chairman Sakthivel said, “This program aims to support innovation and skill development in the home furnishing and apparel manufacturing sectors.,
