Mumbai: Maharashtra PWD Minister Dada Bhuse on Thursday said cracks on the Nagpur-Mumbai Samruddhi Expressway near Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar have been repaired.

Speaking to reporters, Bhuse said officials have been instructed to find out if there are more cracks on the 600-km stretch of the currently operational expressway.

Incidentally, a video of a pothole on the expressway in Sahapur in neighboring Thane district went viral. Due to the incident, traffic between Shere Bere and Shendrun villages was affected for several hours.

Maharashtra Congress chief Nana Patole told reporters at the Vidhan Bhavan complex that the expressway, built at a cost of Rs 55,000 crore, has developed cracks within a year due to corruption.

Patole claimed that the construction of the expressway has only enriched the powers that be, which is being termed as the highway of death due to the large number of accidents occurring on it.

Patole quipped, "Like Samruddhi Mahamarg, we exposed cracks in the Rs 18,000 crore Atal Setu connecting Mumbai and Navi Mumbai. The cracks in Samriddhi and Atal Setu are an indication of how poor Prime Minister Narendra Modi's guarantee is." is incredible."
