New Delhi: A CISF personnel saved the life of a Srinagar-bound passenger who collapsed at the Indira Gandhi International Airport by immediately performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) on him, a spokesperson of the force said.

CPR is an emergency life-saving procedure that is performed when the heart stops beating.

The incident occurred on August 20 around 11 am in the forecourt of Terminal 2 of the airport.

The spokesperson said that the passenger traveling by Indigo flight to Srinagar fell near the hand trolley stand.

He said a two-member Quick Response Team (QRT) of CISF noticed the passenger falling and one of them immediately performed CPR on him, following which the passenger was taken to Safdarjung Hospital for further treatment.

"Due to the alertness and prompt action of CISF personnel, a precious life was saved," the officer said.
