Agartala, CPI(M) and Congress have joined hands to capture power but people will reject them, Tripura BJP president Rajeev Bhattacharya said on Sunday, claiming that his party will win both the Lok Sabha seats in the state.

Addressing a press conference, he called the CPI(M)-TMC alliance an "unholy alliance" that was trying to remain relevant.

"With Tipra Motha joining the BJP-led alliance in Tripura, we are confident that we will win both the Lok Sabha seats by a comfortable margin. We are working to defeat the Indian faction in the Lok Sabha elections," he said.

BJP has fielded former CM Biplab Kumar Deb on Tripura West seat and Kriti Devi Debbarma, sister of Tipra Motha chief Pradyot Debbarma, on Tripura East seat.

Bhattacharjee released a document detailing "crimes" committed during the CPI(M) and Congress governments in the state.

He said people will reject the CPI(M)-Congress alliance as happened in 2022 and 2018.

He said, "It appears that former Chief Minister Manik Sarkar has deviated from the communist ideology as he is urging people to vote for the Congress candidate (Ashish Kumar Saha) in Tripura West constituency. The four-time Chief Minister Very unfortunate for." ,

Bhattacharjee also rejected the argument that the CPI(M) has joined hands with the Congress to "save democracy, constituency and secularism".

“They have come together to gain power, but people will reject them in the elections,” he said.
