New Delhi: The Communist Party of India (Marxist) on Monday condemned the terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Reasi district in which nine people were killed and 41 injured.

In a statement, the Jammu and Kashmir unit of CPI(M) demanded compensation for the victims and also said the administration should introspect as to why such incidents are happening again and again.

"CPI(M) Jammu and Kashmir condemns the terrorist attack on a bus carrying pilgrims in Reasi district in which nine people were killed and 33 others were injured. Such senseless violence serves no purpose and "Only brings pain and devastation to the victims' families." CPI (M) said.

“The authorities should provide compensation to the victims' families and free treatment to the injured, and the culprits should be identified and punished.

"The administration should introspect as to why such incidents are happening again and again in the area. We express our condolences to the families of the victims," ​​he said.

On Sunday, terrorists opened fire on a 53-seater bus carrying pilgrims when it was going from Shiv Khori temple near Terayath village in Poni area to Mata Vaishno Devi temple in Katra.

After the firing the bus fell into a deep ditch.

Officials said 41 people were injured in the attack and 10 of them were shot.

He said the forensic team reached the spot in the morning, examined the entire area and collected various materials related to the attack, including some bullets.
