A four-member CPI(M) delegation met CEO, West Bengal Ariz Aftab and complained that many contractual employees of the state government were attending a training workshop on voting.

According to Robin Deb, CPI(M) central committee member, there were instances where employees of the corporate entity responsible for making advertisements for the ruling Trinamool Congress also attended the workshop.

Deb said that the ECI has made it clear that contractual employees cannot be used for election related duties at any cost.

In the complaint, the CPI(M) leadership alleged that there were instances of banners and banners of the ruling party being put up on vehicles connected to the public-transport system in some districts like East Midnapore.

The party leadership has argued that if posters and banners are placed on a vehicle used for commercial purposes, it should be counted as election expenditure of the political party concerned.
