Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Communist Party of India (CPI) and local residents on Friday agitated in Maharashtra's Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar town demanding the reopening of a civil school, which has been closed for the last three years following a roof collapse incident.

Parents of many local children said that instead of giving financial assistance to the women under the Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana, the state government should ensure that this school starts functioning again.

CPI members and local residents demonstrated outside the school.

Abhay Taksal, one of the protesters, said, "A municipal school located in the Khokarpura area of the city has been closed for the last three years after its roof collapsed. This school should be rebuilt and a CBSE-run school should be started here." ,

"Chief Minister Eknath Shinde calls women in the state his 'ladki bahin' (dear sisters). His sisters are demanding schools for their children. We don't get what we ask for, while the government gives us what we want." We don't get it." There is a need,” he said.

People do not want Rs 1500 from the Girl Sister Scheme. He said, save the money of your sisters who are spending lakhs of rupees in private schools.

Yogita Perkar, another protester, said, "It is doubtful that the Ladki Bahin scheme will be implemented successfully. Instead, the government should rebuild the school in our area as it is really hard to pay the fees of private schools."

One Nazneen said that since the closure of the school campus, it has become a favorite place for drunkards.
