Bahraich (UP), Two cousins died after drowning in a pit filled with rain water here on Tuesday afternoon. Police gave this information.
The incident took place in Behra village of Khairighat police station area when Gulshan Mishra (13) and his cousin Sagar Mishra (11) were going to pluck mangoes from an orchard.
On the way, Gulshan's foot slipped and he fell into a pit filled with rain water and started drowning. According to the villagers, Sagar tried to save him but he also drowned.
Police said that by the time the local people reached the spot, both of them had drowned.
Khairighat police station in-charge inspector SK Singh said the boys were pulled out of the pit and taken to the hospital, where doctors declared them brought dead.
He said that the bodies have been sent for post-mortem.
