The Celestes got off to a perfect start at MetLife Stadium when Facundo Pellistri nodded in from close range in the eighth minute after Ronald Araújo's header cross.

Núñez doubled the lead by running onto the ball from Maximiliano Araújo and firing a first-time effort past goalkeeper Guillermo Viscarra. The Liverpool striker now has 10 goals in his last seven international matches.

Araújo then fired a shot past Nicolás de la Cruz's precise pass which hit Viscara's feet.

Real Madrid midfielder Federico Valverde made the score 4–0 by expertly directing the ball into the bottom-left corner following Pellistri's cross from the right side of the penalty area.

Rodrigo Bentancur, who replaced Valverde in the 86th minute, completed the rout by heading home at the far post after Giorgio de Arrascaeta's floating cross from the left flank.

Uruguay are now guaranteed a place in the quarter-finals while Bolivia will be eliminated regardless of the result of the teams' final group match against Panama on Monday.

Earlier, Panama kept alive its hopes of reaching the last eight of the Copa America with a 2-1 win over the United States in Atlanta.
