Hyderabad: A committee formed by the AICC to look into the party's poor performance in the Lok Sabha elections in Telangana on Thursday held meetings with the candidates contesting the elections.

The three-member committee is headed by senior leader and former Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman PJ Kurien.

Kadiyam Kavya, Congress Lok Sabha member from Warangal, told reporters that the panel members asked him about the areas of strength and weakness of the party and the steps to be taken to further strengthen the party.

Danam Nagendra, the unsuccessful MLA from Secunderabad Lok Sabha constituency, said he informed the committee about the shortcomings in the Lok Sabha elections.

Nagendra expressed confidence that Congress will win the Secunderabad parliamentary constituency in future.

State Congress working president and MLC Mahesh Kumar Gaur and other leaders also met the panel members.

The committee reached Hyderabad on Wednesday night. The other members of the panel are Rakibul Hussain and Pargat Singh.

In June, Congress formed separate committees to look into the party's poor performance in the Lok Sabha elections in some states, including those ruled by it.

Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge had formed six committees to assess the party's poor performance in some states, including Karnataka, Telangana and Himachal Pradesh, where the party is in power, besides Madhya Pradesh, Delhi and Uttarakhand where the party is in power. Did not get even a single seat. Lok Sabha elections completed.
