New Delhi, Congress and National Conference on Monday announced to contest the Lok Sabha elections in Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh in alliance, with both the parties contesting on three seats each.

At a joint press conference here with Congress leaders Salman Khurshid and Pawan Khera, National Conference vice president Omar Abdullah said the Congress will contest from Udhampur, Jammu and Ladakh Lok Sabha seats, while the National Conference will field its candidates in Anantnag, Srinagar and Baramulla.

The announcement comes a day after Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti announced her party's candidates for three seats in Kashmir Valley, signaling the breakdown of seat-sharing talks with India blow partners .

Asked about seat-sharing talks with the PDP not being successful, Khurshid, a member of the Congress's National Alliance Committee, said the Mehbooba Mufti-led party is actually part of the India Bloc but is not on seat-sharing with it. The work could not be done.

Abdullah said, “I want to formally announce that the National Conference and Congress will jointly contest elections in Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh and both the parties will field their candidates on three seats each.,

He said, "National Conference will support Congress candidates on Udhampur, Jammu and Ladakh seats. India Bloc will contest the elections to fulfill the aspirations of the people of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh and give them true representation in the Parliament."

Responding to a question about PDP, Khurshid said, "PDP is in our alliance. Adjustment of seats is a part of the alliance and the overall alliance is a separate issue. Since Jammu and Kashmir is small in area, there is more scope for seats." Not there."Adjustment despite our best efforts."

"The National Conference already has three Lok Sabha MPs and we have decided to give them a chance," he said.

On the question whether the Congress-NC alliance will continue in the assembly elections, Abdullah said that right now their focus is on being successful in the Lok Sabha elections.

He said that with the comments of Chief Election Commissioner and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, it is almost certain that the assembly elections will be held before the date set by the Supreme Court, September 30.

Abdullah also took a dig at DPAP president Ghulam Nabi Azad, saying he was directly helping the BJP.He also wondered why Azad, a resident of Doda, is contesting elections from Anantnag.

On claims that Azad has said he has not decided from where he will contest, Abdullah said his comment would appear "dishonest" as his party has made crazy announcements about seats.

"If he is not contesting, it would suggest that the BJP has calculated that him contesting from (Anantnag) would be detrimental to its prospects," Abdullah said.

"Either way, it is turning out to be an interesting election and the BJP is making every effort to bring different parties in Kashmir on one platform. The visuals of BJP general secretary Tarun Chugh coming out of Altaf Bukhari's residence in Srinagar make this clear. Know what BJP and its allies are going to do there. Our interest as allies is that the BJP's plan fails completely on all six seats,” the former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister said.

He expressed confidence that the situation in Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh is in favor of the Indian faction and the opposition alliance will win all the seats.

Abdullah also rejected Prime Minister Modi's claim of BJP winning 370 seats and NDA 400 seats in the Lok Sabha elections and said that this shows that he is upset.

PDP has announced the names of candidates for three seats in Kashmir and has fielded Mehbooba Mufti against Ghulam Nabi Azad in Anantnag. Congress has fielded Lal Singh from Udhampur to challenge Union Minister Jitendra Singh.
