Guwahati: Congress spokesperson Supriya Shrinate on Monday said the party's manifesto represents the voice of the underprivileged and the underprivileged and questioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi's problem with it.

Criticizing Modi's remarks against the manifesto, he said he should speak words befitting his position and age.

During an election rally in Rajasthan on Sunday, the PM had suggested that if the Congress came to power, it would redistribute people's wealth to Muslims, citing former PM Manmohan Singh's remarks that the minority community had the first claim on the country's resources.

Modi had also alleged that the Congress was planning to give away people's hard-earned money and valuables to "infiltrators" and "those who have more children".

Shrinate, who heads the party's social media and digital platforms, said, “Our manifesto bears the imprint of the aspirations of Dalits, women, young farmers, laborers and students. We don't know what else Modi sees in this."

"I want to ask them what problem they have with our manifesto. If the BJP-led ND government has failed to fulfill its promises, it is not our problem," she said.

Shrinet highlighted the party's promises regarding employment generation, women's welfare and support to farmers.

“These are Congress promises and we will fulfill them,” he said. This is not a slogan of BJP."

Questioning BJP's 'Modi guarantee', the AICC leader said, "He could not provide employment, could not double the income of farmers and could not control the prices of essential commodities and fuel. How can people trust his so-called guarantee?" do."

He said, “The Prime Minister's comments and choice of words are not in line with his position. It is tarnishing the Prime Minister's office.,

"People will vote for a big change and after the first phase of voting, signs are visible. The BJP will be wiped out in the south and reduced to half in the north," he claimed.

He also expressed concern over the impartiality of the Election Commission and urged it to ensure fair voting amid reports of irregularities.

"There have been reports of large-scale rigging in postal ballots. The Election Commission should wake up from its slumber and ensure free elections," he said.,

On the BJP's manifesto, the Congress leader said updating the National Register of Citizens (NRC), which was a major promise in the 2019 elections, did not happen this year.

Referring to the Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA), Shrinate said, "No stigma should be imposed on people. A lot of reforms are needed in the CAA. They (BJP) passed the law and notified the rules just before the elections. Did it. It shows their way.“O functioning. Bharat Bloc will never impose anything on people."
