According to police sources, Nanguneri MLA Ruby Manoharan is being interrogated at a private building in Thoothukudi.

Jayakumar's half-burnt body was found in his 10-acre farm, with his hands and legs tied with cable wires.

The deceased Congress leader was missing since May 2 and his son Jebrin Ha had lodged a missing complaint at the local Urvi police station. During the investigation, on May 4, the police found Jayakumar's body in a burnt state in his field. The field where his body was found was near Jayakumar's house in Karisuthu Pudur village in Tirunelveli district.

According to police sources, Jayakumar allegedly accused Tirunelveli Superintendent of Police N. Silambarasan that he was in danger to his life and requested for police protection.

According to the information, Jayakumar had revealed to the SP that he was in danger to his life and some strangers had been seen near his house.

According to reports, he also revealed the name of the senior Congress leader to whom he owed money. Tirunelveli police sources told IANS that Jayakumar was angry with Ruby Manoharan over some money which Ruby Manoharan owed her.
