In New Delhi, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Wednesday attacked the opposition alleging that it is misleading students by spreading lies on the NEET issue and should end its "cheating policy".

Pradhan's comments came after Prime Minister Narendra Modi told the Rajya Sabha that the government will not forgive those who play with the future of students.

Amid a furious row over alleged irregularities, including document leaks, in examinations like NEET and NET, the opposition has been demanding a debate on the issue in Parliament.

"The Congress has a history of misleading the country on past and present issues. This intention of theirs has come to light in the NEET case as well. The INDI alliance's intention to create instability by diverting itself from issues with the help of lies and rumors are anti-national and anti-student," Pradhan wrote in X in Hindi.

"During his speech in Rajya Sabha today, the Prime Minister has once again told the youth of the country that youth power and their bright future is the first priority of the government and this government stands with all the young students of the country .No injustice will be allowed to happen to anyone.

"The government is taking strict measures by enacting a law for this. The country is confident that no one guilty of irregularities in the examination will be spared. Now the Congress Party and Indian Alliance should end their misleading policy of cheating on the issue of NEETs," he added. .

In the line of fire over alleged irregularities in NEET and NET PhD admissions, the Center removed National Testing Agency (NTA) director general Subodh Singh last week and notified a high-level panel headed by the former Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO). chief R Radhakrishnan to ensure transparent, smooth and fair conduct of examinations through NTA.

While the NEET is under the scanner for several irregularities, including alleged paper leaks, the UGC-NET was canceled when the Education Ministry received information that the integrity of the exam was compromised. Both matters are being investigated by the CBI.

Two other exams, CSIR-UGC NET and NEET-PG, were canceled as a preventive measure.
