Kishanganj (Bihar): Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Sunday said the Congress is becoming "extinct" across the country and the party has been engaged in dynastic politics since Independence.

The JDU president also criticized former ally RJD led by Lalu Prasad and alleged that the RJD was busy promoting its children in politics.

Addressing a public meeting in Kishanganj in support of JDU's Mujahid Alam, Kumar said without naming the RJD, "They are dynastic parties." First he (Lalu) himself was in power… then he promoted his sons… now he is promoting his daughters.

“There is no one from my family in politics. We work for everyone. What happened to Congress after independence… all (those who run the party) are from families. This is why Congress is becoming extinct.”

In an apparent reference to Tejashwi Yadav, Prasad's son and former deputy CM Kumar alleged that the RJD leader takes credit for the development work done by him.

“I did all the work… I took all the decisions and now he takes the credit. People know what they (RJD) did during their rule. We have done a lot for the overall development of the people, including minority communities,” the Chief Minister said.

Along with Kishanganj, Katihar, Purnia, Bhagalpur and Banka Lok Sabha constituencies will go to polls in the second phase on April 26.
