New Delhi [India], Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar on Thursday said he will abide by the decision of the Congress high command regarding changing the chief minister in the state.

Speaking to reporters in Delhi, he said, "Some people are over-enthusiastic. It is natural to have such words of praise in politics, but we should not take it seriously. The party's decision on that will be final." He was referring to Vokkaliga religious leader Chandrashekarnath Swamy's demand to make him the CM during the Kempe Gowda birth anniversary program in Bengaluru on Thursday.

On the 515th birth anniversary of Bengaluru's founder Kempegowda, Chandrashekarnath Swamy publicly asked Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to step down and hand over power to DK Shivakumar.

After Congress got the mandate in the last assembly elections, both Shivakumar and Siddaramaiah had staked claim to the chief minister's post. After several rounds of talks, the Congress leadership decided to elect Siddaramaiah for the post of Chief Minister. There has been talk of a power sharing agreement between Siddaramaiah and Shivakumar but the party has never accepted it publicly.

Asked about Minister KN Rajanna's statement that he was ready to give up his ministerial post to become KPCC president, he said he would respond to it later.

Asked about his Delhi visit, he said, "I will meet newly elected MPs from Karnataka to discuss pending central projects in the state. It is important to raise issues related to the state and put pressure on the Centre. We will give instructions." " "MPs should fight for the land, water and language of the state."
