Ladakh [India], Congress on Thursday declared Tsering Namgyal as its candidate for the Ladakh Lok Sabha constituency for the 2024 elections, underscoring its intention to contest strongly in the Union Territory. An official statement said, "The Central Election Committee approves the candidature of Shri Tsering Namgyal as the Congress candidate to contest the upcoming general election to the Lok Sabha from 1-Ladakh Parliamentary Constituency. Earlier on April 23, the BJP had in its Tashi Gyalson was announced to be the candidate from Ladakh constituency in place of current MP Jamyang Tsering Namgyal. Tashi Gyalson is the councilor from Lingshed constituency and in 2020 he was elected as the 6th Chairman of Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council, (LAHDC), Leh. And in the 2019 elections, Jamyang Tsering Namgyal of BJP emerged victorious with 42,914 votes and independent candidate Sajjad Hussain secured 31,984 votes.
