New Delhi [India], after meeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi where key issues related to the development and progress of Karnataka were discussed, Karnataka Chief Minister K Siddaramaiah on Saturday submitted a detailed letter to Prime Minister Modi highlighting key demands and priorities for the development of Karnataka.

In the meeting, the Karnataka CM sought approval of important projects of the states including Mekedatu Dam Project, Bhadra Upper Bank Project, Kalasa Banduri Drinking Water Project, etc.

In a post, the Karnataka CM wrote: "Chief Minister @siddaramaiah met Prime Minister @narendramodi today and sought approval of important projects of the state. Approval of Rs 9,000 crore Mekedatu Dam project, which will provide drinking water to Bengaluru city and generate 400 MW of electricity, is pending with the Central Water Commission, and the Prime Minister was asked to take personal interest in the said project."

"Officials of Ministry of Hydropower and Ministry of Environment and Forests were requested to release Rs 5,300 crore for the Bhadra Upper Bank Project as announced in the Central Government Budget 2023-2024 and for quick resolution of the Kalasa Banduri. The state government has earmarked a subsidy of Rs 3,000 crore in the budget for the development of seven districts of Kalyan Karnataka, and the central government has been asked to provide corresponding subsidy in its budget for 2024-25 and increase the subsidy provided under the development of the central government's aspirational district program and facilitate the inclusion of new programs in the plan.
