Sources said the Rajasthan government may cancel the status of about a dozen districts if they do not meet the demarcation and population criteria.

The Panwar Committee will also submit the report to the Cabinet Subcommittee formed earlier under the leadership of Deputy Chief Minister Premchand Bairwa to review the situation of 19 districts and three divisions.

The previous government had formed 19 new districts last year, taking the total number of districts in the state to 50.

The process of creating three more districts was also initiated, but the current state government led by CM Sharma has informed the Assembly that no further action will be taken on the proposal due to the dissolution of the Ramlubhaya Committee.

Sources confirmed that as per revenue department records, there are around 12 districts which do not meet the criteria for the status of a separate district in terms of demarcation and population.

These districts are (Jaipur), Khairthal-Tijara (Alwar), Shahpura (Bhilwara), Sanchore (Jalore), Deeg (Bharatpur), Gangapur City (Sawai Madhopur), Kotputli-Behror (Jaipur), Salumber (Udaipur), Neemkathana ( Sikar), Kekri (Ajmer), Anupgarh (Bikaner), and Phalodi city (Jodhpur).
