New Delhi: Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud held a bilateral meeting with Chief Justice of Uzbekistan Bakhtiyar Islamov in Tashkent on Thursday.

A communication said they discussed the possibility of bilateral cooperation between the top courts of the two countries.

CJI Chandrachud is in Tashkent for the meeting of Chief Justices of Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) member countries.

The SCO is an intergovernmental organization established in Shanghai in June 2001.

Since its inception, the SCO has primarily focused on regional security issues and its fight against regional terrorism, ethnic separatism and religious extremism. To date, SCO priorities also include regional development.

Earlier, on May 22, the CJI had paid floral tributes to former Prime Minister La Bahadur Shastri at the Shastri statue in Tashkent.
